What We Do
We provide workshops, speaking engagements and consulting on disability, ableism, accessibility, mental health, sex education and art.
Our work is rooted in anti-oppression and strengthening community relationships. Every offering is developed and co-facilitated by disabled, queer and/or transgender people of colour.
All services can be delivered in-person or virtually, and can be tailored for specific organizations and audiences. If you would like us to facilitate a training session or speak at your event, please contact us!
Unpacking Ableism 101
When it comes to anti-oppressive frameworks, there are comprehensive resources on how to be race and gender inclusive. However, while many understand that ableism is wrong, we might struggle with how to identify and unpack it. This workshop addresses ableism within an intersectional framework, defines accessibility and accommodations, and helps participants engage meaningfully with anti-ableist discourse.
Unpacking Ableism 102
This workshop is a facilitated group discussion that engages with the real world impacts and lived experiences of the concepts covered in Unpacking Ableism 101. The goal of this workshop is to have participants think critically about ableism and access at all levels of your organization to reimagine more inclusive environments.
Unpacking Ableism in/and Mental Health
Conversations around mental health and disability are often medicalized and lack community perspectives. This workshop will address the historical and social contexts that impact mainstream definitions of mental health. We will speak about mental illness as disability and the medicalization and stigmatisation of diverse minds. We will explore specific access needs, self advocacy, the duty to accommodate, stigma and the importance of community.
